Ashland District School, Ashland
45 hours of services and give a full credit towards graduation requirement. The community service is a required credit for graduation. That would be prorated for students that enter our district later in their career.
Bucksport High School, Bucksport
We require 40 hours and pro rate for students who come in at different times (10 hours / year). We have a form that students have to pass in and ideas are approved through a conversation with any faculty member, with admin having final say on questionable opportunities. Necessary signatures are on the form (Student, Parent, Person the student reports to for the community service). This was tracked through homeroom teachers/advisory and collated on a google doc. This was not very efficient and now it lives with our Guidance secretary who students hand forms in to and she populates the google doc.
I also have provided a “kickoff” for 9th graders where we go into the community a day in the fall that allows them to get started with 6 hours. It also gets them to see the opportunities that exist. We are planning a Community Service fair, as well for November where we have a number of community agencies come in, set up tables and let students know what opportunities exist. Only necessary for an hour/hour and a half, but hoping it opens possibilities.

Sacopee Valley High School, Hiram
Sacopee Valley High School requires 25 hours of individual community service. Students report and reflect on their service in their senior exhibitions. This is a required element. This is done in a presentation to family and invited staff and friends. Students are encouraged to do service for a single organization or cause rather than randomly. Hours must be documented. The Senior Seminar teacher manages community service progress. Students who have not partially completed community service hours by the end of the first semester receive a graduation warning notice along with students who are in danger of not graduating due to excessive absenteeism or academic failure.
In addition to individual community service, seniors participate in group service teams during senior week. They do a variety of projects including cemetery cleaning and reclamation (for outlying family cemeteries), community garden work, household projects for the elderly and disabled, etc. Students do about 4 hours of group community service, however if a senior has academic work that is not completed at the end of senior classes they work in our learning lab on that in lieu of their service day. They also miss senior beach day and other end-of-year events until their work is made up.
