Author and Director of Professional Learning Dr. Adam Drummond has served as an author, keynoter, field series manager, and director of professional learning for the International Center for
Leadership in Education. Prior to his arrival at ICLE, Dr. Drummond operated the United Way of Huntington County, IN as President and CEO. Additionally, he was honored to serve as a turnaround principal of Lincoln Elementary. Prior professional experiences include elementary and middle school teacher, professional development coordinator, technology integration specialist, and assistant principal.
Adam also works as an adjunct professor in the Department of Educational Leadership at Ball State University and MBA program at Huntington University. He also invested time as a Professional Faculty Member and Certified K-12 Administration Mentor Trainer for the National Association of Elementary School Principals. Adam received his B.S. in Elementary Education, M.A. in Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education, Specialist in Education (Ed.S.), and earned his Doctorate in Education in 2014 from Ball State University. His dissertation focused on principal qualities in high poverty, high performing schools. Dr. Drummond’s educational specialty domains include early childhood, instructional design, digital learning, and strategic planning with focus on executive coaching.
Dr. Drummond was recognized by the Youth Services Bureau with the “Friends of Youth” award for Huntington County, IN in 2017. He also was recognized by the Indiana General Assembly in February 2016 with a House Resolution for his leadership work while principal at Lincoln Elementary School. He was the District #3 Indiana Association of School Principals 2016 Principal of the Year, and was one of 40 leaders in Northeast Indiana awarded by the Fort Wayne Business Weekly “40 Under 40” Award. In 2012, Dr. Drummond was recognized by the Ball State University Teachers College Outstanding Alumni Award and by the Ball State University Alumni Association as the 2010 Graduate of the Last Decade award.
Dr. Drummond’s book The Instructional Change Agent offers school leaders 48 practical ways to support you in your day-to-day leadership as you work to boost student achievement and increase teacher efficacy. A useful resource for all school leaders throughout your career, his book shapes your passion “dashboard” and identifies ways to lead the charge in high-impact areas including enhancing culture, leading instructional planning, boosting learner engagement, and building strong community partnerships.
