About the Conference and Presenters

Thursday Keynote:

Andrew Marotta is an energetic and enthusiastic leader who has put his positive imprint on his beloved Port Jervis High School, in Port Jervis, NY.  With the release of his first book, “The Principal: Surviving and Thriving”, Andrew is expanding his impact on the educational leadership community.

In his personal life, Andrew is a loving husband to his wife, Jennifer, and supportive father to their three young children.  In his professional life, Andrew has been at Port Jervis High School for fifteen years, serving as Assistant Principal for seven years and Principal for the past eight.  He has led the transformation of Port Jervis High School, helping to raise the graduation rate from a low 60% to mid and upper 80%.

There has been a positive mindset change among staff and students directly related to Mr. Marotta’s leadership in and around the school.  In addition to academic achievement, the school’s climate and culture has evolved for the better.  From smoky bathrooms and empty, downtrodden flowerbeds to clean, smoke-free halls and bathrooms and an abundance of beauty in and around the school, Mr. Marotta has been the catalyst for significant change at PJHS.  Husband, Father, Principal, former Division One College Basketball Official, Adjunct Leadership Professor, Professional Speaker & Developer, Andrew Marotta balances his busy lifestyle and now shares with you the tips, tricks, procedures, and methods he uses to make it work. Take one or all of the tips in his book and make them your own.  One day at a time and one wisdom point at time, you’ll be better tomorrow than you are today. Now he wants to bring his game plan to you and your school.  Are you ready?

Friday Keynote:

Dr. Bryan Pearlman is a former school principal/teacher, a mental health therapist, PD leader, keynote speaker, and adjunct professor.  He is the author of two books:  Maslow Before Bloom:  Basic Human Needs Before Academics released in May 2020 and Whatever It Takes For All Students to Succeed in School and Life, released in January 2019.  Dr. Pearlman is also the co-founder and board member of the mental health non-profit  His expertise is helping all children to succeed, challenging behaviors, trauma, school improvement, mental health, and self-care.  Dr. Pearlman has presented to over 50,000 people in the past two years.  He is regularly asked to provide keynote addresses, featured presentations, and trainings for state, regional, and national organizations.

“Maslow Before Bloom:  Basic Human Needs Before Academics”

“Maslow Before Bloom” is a hashtag that Dr. Bryan Pearlman has been using for years on social media.  It is also the title of his second book, released in May 2020.  In this engaging and interaction presentation, Dr. Pearlman shares his own personal struggles as a student and his successes as a teacher and school administrator.  He infuses many real-world case studies, stories, struggles, evidence-based practices, a problem-solving process, and out of the box ideas for helping all students to be successful in school and life.  Dr. Pearlman’s message will make participants laugh, cry, and feel.

Although not mandatory, we strongly encourage you to purchase a copy of the two books listed below.
