** In Honor of National Principals’ Month **

Maine’s Positive PRINCIPAL of the Day ~Tiffany Karney, Oxford Elementary School ~

Tiffany Karnes has been the principal at the Oxford Elementary School for nine years. Prior to going into administration, Tiffany taught 4th and 5th grade for 7 years. This is her 17th year in administration and her 24th in education. She has had the pleasure of serving as principal in schools from Aroostook County to Oxford County, starting her career in administration as a K-6 Assistant Principal and then serving as the principal of several elementary schools. Tiffany has served as a member of the MPA Tennis Committee and is an MPA mentor for new administrators.

“The best part of my job as a principal is having the opportunity to work with staff and students each day and watch them learn and grow. Whether it is watching a shy pre-kindergarten student who is full of wonder and excitement on their first day of school turn into a confident sixth grader that is heading off to middle school or watching a brand new teacher step into their very first classroom turn into an instructional coach who is helping the next generation of new teachers become their very best. Helping both teachers and students discover their passions and become leaders is the very best part of what we get to do every day as principals.” #ThankAPrincipal #NAESP
