** In Honor of National Principals’ Month **
Maine’s Positive PRINCIPAL of the Day ~ Tracy Williams, W. G. Mallet School in Farmington ~
I’m Tracy Williams, Principal of W.G.Mallett School, a Pre-K-2nd Grade school in Farmington Maine. I’m in my eighteenth year as the Principal of Mallett and forty first year in education. After starting in Speech Therapy, I taught third and fourth grade for ten years, eventually teaching graduate classes in Literacy for UMaine and working for Maine Reading Recovery.
I really feel fortunate to be a principal, exactly where I am, with a staff so dedicated and creative. We manage to work hard, keep learning – and laugh, at times. It’s equally awesome to watch our students grow and see them feeling pride in their learning. The work can certainly be challenging, but that’s a great aspect of the principalship; we have to keep rolling up our sleeves and re-examining our ideas and methods, keeping students in the forefront. #ThankAPrincipal #NAESP
