**In Honor of National Principals’ Month **

Maine’s Positive PRINCIPAL Story of the Day ~ Paula Callan, Messalonskee High School in Oakland

Paula Callan is principal of Messalonskee High School and has been for the last seven years. Previous to becoming principal at MHS Paula served as the assistant principal at the same school for 14 years. She was the 2015 Assistant Principal of the Year as well as the 2023 Maine High School Principal of the Year. 

 Paula holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maine- Farmington in special education with a focus on learning disabilities and a master’s degree from the University of Maine-Orono in educational leadership. 

 Throughout her career as an assistant principal and principal Paula has made it a priority to make sure that the decisions she makes are always in the best interest of all students. Their voices have the ability to make an impactful difference in their high school and she strives to have those voices heard whenever possible.
