Maine’s Positive Story of the Day ~ Caribou Community School ~
Caribou Community School is a PreK to 8 school located in Caribou, Maine. We are the largest school north of the Bangor area with approximately 770 students and 115 staff members. CCS was scheduled to open in the fall of 2020, but construction delays associated with COVID delayed the opening of this amazing facility until November of the same year.
We are in year three at our new school, but we are really enjoying our facilities in what is our first COVID-free restriction year at CCS. Activities that we took for granted before the pandemic hit are now greatly appreciated by staff and students. Eating in the cafeteria, interacting with guest speakers, and working collaboratively are just a few of these experiences.
Caribou Community School also is the home of the Aroostook County Teacher of the year, Heather Anderson. Heather Anderson, a grade 8 Humanities teacher, who was recognized and celebrated this fall by her colleagues and students for her amazing work with our middle school students.
