Maine’s Positive Story of the Day from Marshwood Middle School in Eliot ~
Marshwood Middle School has a tradition of honoring veterans each year. In my first year as Principal at MMS, I was amazed at the tremendous tribute to our veterans that included teachers and students working with members of our school community. The video of previous years that was shared with me reflects the best in what we hope for when school and community come together to honor and recognize our veterans. This year they honored veterans and first responders (20th anniversary of 9/11). They typically have a tremendous in-person ceremony but needed to create a video instead due to the pandemic. The two teachers who have led this community project each year are Catherine Locke and Kris Bisson who are both teachers at Marshwood Middle School. I have included a link to the video of this year’s celebration of our Veterans and First Responders below.

I can not think of a better positive message of the amazing teachers and community members we have than the work they have accomplished for the past twenty years and especially this year in light of the challenges the Pandemic has placed on communities coming together. We have amazing teachers, students, and community members who have come together to honor and celebrate our veterans and first responders as they should be.
