Maine’s Positive Story of the Day ~ Weaterbee Elementary School in Hampden~

Weatherbee Elementary has some very special visitors from Nova Scotia! WB students went out to the front circle to see the Nova Scotia Tree to Boston. This is more than a tree. It’s a symbol of gratitude and international goodwill. Annually, the people of Halifax, Nova Scotia donate a tree to be lit in Boston in thanks for their assistance after the 1917 Halifax Explosion. This tragedy brought out the best in people and sparked a long-lasting friendship between Canadians and New Englanders who immediately responded with doctors, supplies, and financial support. The Canadians have said, “you can never say thank you enough”. This inspirational message came to light just as we headed into Thanksgiving break. It was a wonderful message to reinforce the power of community and caring. Click HERE to view the video.
