Maine’s Positive Story of the Day ~ Oxford Hills Middle School in South Paris ~

Our OHMS students from South campus in Oxford, Maine participated in the program “Hooked on Fishing – Not on Drugs” program with the Maine Wildlife and Fisheries.  The program uses fishing to address: positive alternatives to drug use, motivation, communication, self-esteem building, responsibility, positive role models, the ability to overcome peer pressure, good problem-solving and decision making skills, and improved family interaction. While some students were fishing, other students were at Sheppard’s Farm Hiking, geocaching, and observing nature.
